Recovery, repair & inflammation
KPV
A three-amino-acid fragment of alpha-MSH studied for anti-inflammatory effects, especially in the gut. Lab and animal evidence.
How it works
It is the last three amino acids of α-MSH. It enters cells and calms inflammation by lowering NF-κB signaling.
What it is used for
Inflammatory bowel disease, skin inflammation and wound healing.
What the evidence says
Positive results in animal models of colitis. There are no human trials.
Side effects and cautions
There is little safety data.
Half-life
Not established in people
Makes sense for
- Gut or skin inflammation, as research
Does not make sense for
- Replacing proven treatment for inflammatory bowel disease
Boost the effect
- Omega-3 fatty acids (fatty fish, fish oil): add an anti-inflammatory effect
- A minimally processed, high-fiber diet: supports gut healing
