Growth hormone & performance
IGF-1 LR3
A long-acting modified form of IGF-1, the hormone that carries out most of growth hormone’s effects. Used mainly in lab research.
How it works
A modified IGF-1 that barely binds the proteins that normally neutralize IGF-1, so it stays active for much longer (about 20–30 hours) and is more potent.
What it is used for
Cell-culture research. Also used for muscle growth.
What the evidence says
There are no human trials. Regular IGF-1 (mecasermin) is approved only for rare IGF-1 deficiency.
Side effects and cautions
Low blood sugar, which can be severe. It may cause organ growth and promote tumor growth.
Half-life
About 20–30 hours (vendor estimate)
Makes sense for
- Experienced users focused on muscle growth, with medical supervision
Does not make sense for
- Diabetes or episodes of low blood sugar
- Active cancer
- Beginners
Boost the effect
- Carbohydrates after training, around the injection: lower the risk of low blood sugar
- Enough protein: IGF-1 needs amino acids to build muscle
