Growth hormone & performance
GHRP-6
A growth-hormone-releasing peptide that acts on the ghrelin receptor and noticeably increases appetite. Small human studies.
How it works
It works on the same ghrelin receptor as GHRP-2, with a much stronger effect on appetite.
What it is used for
Releasing GH and stimulating appetite. Also researched for heart and gut protection.
What the evidence says
Small human studies show GH release and strong hunger. There are no large trials.
Side effects and cautions
Strong hunger, water retention, higher cortisol and prolactin, and higher blood sugar.
Half-life
About 15–20 minutes (vendor estimate)
Makes sense for
- Adults looking to raise GH who also want more appetite, for example to gain weight
Does not make sense for
- People trying to lose weight
- Active cancer or a history of cancer
- Diabetes or prediabetes
Boost the effect
- Inject on an empty stomach (2 hours after eating, no food for 30 minutes after): sugar and fat blunt the growth-hormone release
- Evening dose before bed and deep sleep: most growth hormone is released in deep sleep
- Enough protein: growth hormone needs building material to work on
