Epitalon
A synthetic four-amino-acid peptide based on a pineal-gland extract, studied for telomerase and aging, mostly by one Russian research group.
How it works
A synthetic version of epithalamin, a pineal-gland extract. It is reported to switch on telomerase and help regulate melatonin.
What it is used for
Healthy aging and sleep.
What the evidence says
Russian studies in animals and older adults, almost all from one research group, and not confirmed independently.
Side effects and cautions
Long-term safety is unknown. Switching on telomerase is also a feature of cancer cells, which is a theoretical concern.
